Urban Gardens for the social integration of Migrants (UGAIN)

Nearly 1.5 million migrants and refugees have arrived in Europe since 2015. Countries including Germany, Sweden, Austria, Spain and the UK are struggling to find the best way to integrate so many displaced people and tackle this large humanitarian crisis.

One way to help achieve social integration of migrants and refugees is through community and intercultural gardens. These green spaces provide a great opportunity for people from different cultures to get know each other in a peaceful, safe and active environment that enhances their well-being.

The UGAIN project will provide NGOs, local government and new or existing community gardeners with the training and support to transform a green space into a meeting point for local citizens and migrants, fostering social integration and cultural change.
